Love Your Watershed: Spring Bird Walk at J2E Tree Farm

We hope you will join us for our annual Spring bird walk at J2E Tree Farm! Whether you are new to bird-watching or a bird expert, attending this leisurely-paced nature walk will definitely boost your avian identification skills! 

Experienced birders will lead the way as we explore the pond, forests and prairies in search of feathered friends. Learn how to identify birds by sight and sound, and discover how tree farm owners, Dave and Sarah Ehlers, are managing their land for both conservation and timber. 

Bird Walk Leads

Salem Audubon bird experts Mike Unger and Tim Johnson will be leading one bird walk group, and OSU Extension Forester Lorelle Sherman and local naturalist Joel Geier will be leading a second group. Both groups will head off in opposite directions and meet up at the end to compare species lists and notable sightings. A huge THANK YOU goes to our bird walk leaders for volunteering for this event and for sharing your expertise with us!

Note that this event will involve walking about 2 miles along uneven and potentially muddy pathways, so make sure to dress for the weather, wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes, and bring your water bottle. You are also invited to bring a bag lunch and a lawn chair for an optional post-event picnic, weather permitting.

Don't forget to bring binoculars and/or a camera! We will also have some extra binoculars if you need to borrow a pair.
