Join us for an evening with Tony exploring some of the iconic fish that call our watershed home. We'll trace how decades of change have reshaped local streams, from the history of Kalapuya relationships with these waters and the salmon and lamprey within them, to the more recent impacts of development, land use, and habitat loss.
BLM Fish Biologist Tony Spitzack will introduce the salmonids and lamprey found right here in our watershed, and dig into what each species needs to survive and thrive, some of it shared and some of it surprisingly unique. We'll connect the dots to floodplain reconnection and why healthy riparian areas matter so much for these fish, covering everything from native plants and invasive species removal to the macroinvertebrates that form the base of the food chain they depend on.
