Restoration on Working Lands: A Little Luckiamute River Tour​

Join LWC staff and landowners for a guided tour of riparian recovery along the Little Luckiamute River

On April 25, come join us for a tour of an ongoing restoration project along the Little Luckiamute River! During the tour, LWC Restoration Project Director Aubrey Siddiqui-Cloud will provide an in-depth look at the inspiring work happening at Atherton Farm just a few miles southeast of Falls City. Aubrey will walk tour participants through invasive weed management, climate-adaptive species selection, and strategies being used for stabilizing eroded streambanks.  Landowners Vicki and Mike will share their experience bringing a conservation vision to life on their sheep farm, and you'll get to see firsthand the early stages of a riparian forest taking shape and providing habitat for beaver, river otter, great blue herons and native fish.

Note that this event will involve walking approximately 1/2 mile along a relatively flat area that may have bumpy, uneven terrain. Please make sure to dress for the weather, wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes, and bring your water bottle. You are also invited to bring a bag lunch for an optional picnic lunch at Luckiamute Valley Charter School after the tour. ​

About the Event Leader:

Aubrey Siddiqui-Cloud started working to restore the Willamette Valley’s native habitats in 2016, when he was hired as a restoration contractor for a local reforestation crew. Then, in 2020, he transitioned to a new role as a Restoration Project Manager for both the Luckiamute Watershed Council and the Marys River Watershed Council, where he continues to improve riparian and floodplain forest habitat within a wide range of sites throughout the Willamette Valley. ​
